Frequently Asked Questions

1

Do you accept insurance? Which plans do you take?

Yes! I currently accept Cigna, Aetna, United Healthcare, Optum, and Florida Blue. Keep in mind that many other insurance plans are actually administered through these larger networks, so even if your card doesn't say one of these names directly, your plan may still be covered. If you contact me directly, I am happy to verify your benefits.

2

What are your self-pay rates? Do you offer sliding scale?

My cash-pay rates are $175 for your initial appointment and $150 for each session after that. They are typically 53+ minutes long.

I do offer a sliding scale; however, those are on a case-by-case basis, and I have limited spots open.

3

What ages do you work with?

I work with kids, teens, and adults

4

What is play therapy and how does it work?

Play therapy uses play,  a child's natural language, to help them work through big feelings and experiences they don't yet have the words for. Instead of talking things out like an adult might, kids act things out: through toys, games, art, or sand tray work.

5

What is a Registered Play Therapist, and why does it matter?

RPT™ is a specialized credential granted by the Association for Play Therapy,  it's not something every therapist automatically has, even if they use some play-based techniques.

To earn it, a clinician has to already be a licensed mental health professional, then complete 150+ hours of specific play therapy instruction and  supervised, hands-on play therapy experience with clients, on top of their regular clinical training.

6

Do you work with divorced/separated parents or custody situations?

Yes, absolutely! I do require both parents to consent to therapy as well as a copy of either a custody agreement or a parenting plan.
